Hanae Mori Butterfly

2015-01-17 15.31.19-1Hanae Mori, Hanae Mori Butterfly (Hanae Mori 1996) is a very airy, light, modern floral.  It is a bit reminiscent of Estée Lauder, Pleasures in it’s watery, clean sensibilities.  The sillage is moderate and the longevity is moderate as well.

Top Notes: Blackberry, Blackcurrent, Bilberry and Wild Strawberry.

Middle Notes: Bulgarian Rose, Ylang Ylang, French Peony and Jasmine.

Base Notes: Almondwood, Rosewood, Sandalwood and Cedar.

I’ve been using Clinique, All About Eyes for years.  It’s a classic.  While, it’s not “natural” I deem it safe enough for my standards and it works.  Of course, it worked better when I was a freshman in college and had the skin to match, but it still is worth slathering on in the morning to dimish imperfections such as darkness under the eyes and fine lines.  I might try to find something a bit more “potent” (and ideally not in a jar) but for the time being this silky, Clinique staple is not bad. Not bad at all.

I’m not immune to noticing trends and occasionally following them, of course, and since this year’s Pantone color is marsala, I thought I would try to find lipsticks to match.  According to many websites, Dior Rouge, Rouge Blossom 644 is a marsala lipstick and since I’ve had good experiences with Dior Rouge before, I bought this tube from Sephora one night recently when I was ready to look forward to getting something cheery in the mail.   It’s a nice, dense, non-drying, elegant formula (of course) and the color is actually pretty flattering.  I’m not sure it’s precisely “marsala” but it’s extremely close and I don’t regret buying it for a second.

So…  after a particularly busy, but pleasant weekend, so starts a new week.  Sigh.  Oh boy.
