Watches Update

Last night I bought a 1950’s/early 60’s 12k gold plated ladies wrist watch made by Clinton. I wasn’t going go vintage for my “workhorse watch” but I saw it being sold in the same live auction I was buying other items in so I went for it. Now all it needs is to be cleaned by the watch repair/sales place we go to.

We’ll see though. The thing with vintage items, as much as I love them, is that being as unique and old as they are one wants to preserve them, but of course they’re more vulnerable, so it’s tricky. So, I possibly might just go back to my original plan and buy something new for the sake of function…

Once in college I bought a chartreuse leather clutch from the early 1960’s and I wore that bag often. It was the perfect “pop of color” but…because I loved it so it got worn edges and eventually was not in good enough shape to wear any longer. I had to throw it away and that was a little depressing. Since then I’ve become much more careful about such things…

But we all have pieces like that, don’t we. We all have that coat or those shoes that get used too frequently because they’re easy to wear and almost never disappoint.

Do you keep those items for sentimental reasons or get rid of them? I’ve done both.

Anyway, my watch quest progresses and continues…
