As of tonight I’m now the owner of my “forever bag”, the hat, the vintage Chanel tweed jacket and the shoes.
The hat is from Saks. The shoes are my first Manolo Blahniks and Jimmy Choos from The Real Real and my handbag is by a British handbag designer. I purchased the handbag directly from the maker. The Chanel jacket is from the days of late 1990’s Karl Lagerfeld Chanel and I purchased it from an authenticated vintage seller as well.
I’m extremely excited about all of it.
I would have purchased the Manolos new but I was too scared. Close to $1,000 (or more) for a pair of high heels seemed too risky. If I find myself wearing the heels I just purchased regularly maybe I’ll buy a new pair eventually…
The thing is, I really wish it wasn’t a risk to buy new Manolos because I actually love high heels and have my whole life. But…boat shoes have been my “go to” for many years for a reason. I also have worn a lot of “flip flops” over the years too. AND in college because it was so neat and tidy around campus and in (relatively) rural Pennsylvania I felt safe going barefoot outdoors (weather permitting). *sigh*
Those were the years…in some ways. Not in others. But truly, in some ways the barefoot walks with fireflies lighting my path at night were one of the highlights of my life. Seriously.
I had three boyfriends during those years but none of them were all that romantic, sadly. I kissed once next to the creek on a wooden bench (almost everyone at our college made out there once) and I had an offer to take an amorous walk in the woods at night that I declined to take, but other than those occasions…all those fireflies were a background only to my stardust hopes and dreams .
…Anyway, I wouldn’t have easily worn heels back then and didn’t. Again, I even went barefoot. …Nowadays I wouldn’t ever even think of going barefoot outside, also sadly, almost anywhere. Yet, at least I’m finally now comfortable enough wearing the shoes I’ve always loved.
I’m excited. When they all arrive I’ll post photos.
