Majestic Woods

Intriguingly, Majestic Woods by Juicy Couture (2017) reminds me of brilliant creations by Daniel Josier for Renier Parfums: Black Rain and Kisses Rain, but with a hint of Black Opium for good measure… I like it, but find it derivative. Still, I really like it…

Ambroxan is saucy and bold here with a seductive tip of the hat to a sweet tonka bean and a genuinely lovely woody note. Certainly praline is also present and it’s smoky… but Majestic Woods is a bit more animalic than most sugary fragrances with similar notes. Although, it does remind me of the Renier fragrances and so I probably am a bit biased in this fragrance’s favor…

Notes: Woody notes, ambroxan, amber, praline and tonka bean.

Juicy Couture

I love Juicy Couture, Juicy Couture (Juicy Couture 2006).  It reminds me of college.

At one point I was dating this guy and I distinctly remember thinking that our relationship was disappointing but that I loved the perfume I kept wearing while I saw him…  Actually, I think Juicy Couture slightly cushioned the moments when that relationship started to completely, and inevitably, dissovle – it was such an uplifting fragrance.

But anyway, today I’m wearing Juicy Couture.

The top notes are listed as: passionfruit, green apple, mandarin orange, marigold, hyacinth, watermelon, and green leaves.

Middle notes: rose hip, lily, and tuberose.

Base notes: caramel, vanilla, precious woods, patchouli, and creme brulee.

It may not be as contemporary and exciting as it was almost ten years ago when it first debuted, but I still enjoy wearing it with its bright floral fruity bouquet.  I mean, really, watermelon, hyacinth, precious woods and creme brulee?  How could those notes not create a warm, inviting but light fragrance?

To me this fragrance smells like happiness in a bottle.  It’s like the olfactory portrait of what certain memories should be, regardless of what they actually were or are.

Do you have any perfumes that brighten your mood?  Any that do the opposite?
