Nose: Anne Flipo (Frederic Malle)

Notes: Tarragon, basil, galbanum, sandalwood and patchouli.

Year: 2024 (originally 1973)

It’s not a bad reiteration of the original. It’s actually very good. …Very green. Very…vintage. Memorable.

Many people smelling this one won’t like it. Because they’ll claim it’s too “old lady” for them. But…it’s of its time. And if you appreciate it as a great reproduction of the original 1970’s fragrance you may be able to understand it better. …It’s…sharp. Pungent. It bites your nose. But…it’s that haunting oakmoss of the original that is faintly present in some homage in the Anne Flipo version. It’s…an experience. …And while some people might not be comfortable wearing it I would. Of course I’d be cautious to wear it wisely…but…it’s worth having if you enjoy perusing the olfactory past.

Longevity is moderate. Sillage is moderate.

Lys Mediterrane

Nose: Edouard Fléchier

Notes according to Fragrantica: “Top notes are Sea water, Ginger, Bergamot and Lemon; middle notes are Lily, Lotus, Angelica, Orange Blossom, Tuberose, Ylang-Ylang and Freesia; base notes are Musk, Vanilla, Amber and Cedar.”

Year: 2000

Timeless, opulent, sexy white florals. A blooming tropical lily. Wow!

Earthy. Gorgeous.

If you like the 1970’s powerhouses like Diane von Furstenberg or Fracas or Jungle Gardenia…but prefer something more…fresh…clear…and frankly elegant…Lys Mediterranee is for you. It’s…fantastic. Absolutely one of my favorite fragrances.

Sillage and longevity are moderate to strong.
