Samsara

Nose: Jean-Paul Guerlain

Notes according to Fragrantica: Top notes are Ylang-Ylang, Peach, Bergamot, Green Notes and Lemon; middle notes are Iris, Jasmine, Narcissus, Orris Root, Rose and Violet; base notes are Sandalwood, Vanilla, Iris, Amber, Tonka Bean and Musk.

Year: 1989

I both love and hate this fragrance. It’s the sandalwood note I’m reacting to. It’s too…much. But it’s also so deep and delightful. I have great respect for Samsara and require it in my collection but it’s not one of my favorites. Of course sandalwood isn’t the only note in Samsara…but it’s the loudest, in my opinion.

Eau de rhubarbe écarlate

Nose: Christine Nagel

Notes according to Fragrantica: Top note is Rhubarb; middle notes are Red Berries and Lantana; base note is White Musk.

Year: 2016

I purchased this fragrance for the berry notes. But the rhubarb is also very lovely. Perhaps it’s the rhubarb that makes the berry notes so appealing as they don’t become too sweet. Sort of like strawberry rhubarb pie. Of course the lantana and white musk are perfectly suited and create an exceptionally well balanced fragrance. Very Hemes!
