“One Dalit, And Diego”

As the Civil War is underway gracefully, efficiently, effectively, furtively and under divine control…we will now eavesdrop on a conversation between Diego and Chris Hayes.

“I’m a dalit.” demands Chris Hayes of Diego.

“You’re not a Dalit, man.” says Diego.

“I’m totally a Dalit!” says Chris.

“Why do I keep having to ask myself if you’re crazy? Why do you make me contemplate this?” asks Diego.

“Diego…a Dalit is the lowest of the low.” says Chris.

I am that. Not you!!” says Diego.

“Mmm. No.” says Chris Hayes. He licks his lips and then thinks. “You are a day crosser. But…you’ve told me that your grandmother owned a store?”

“My great grandmother.” says Diego. “But I’ve come to be poor. My family is poor.”

Chris places his finger to lips and looks gingerly amused. “You…are…wrong!”

“Oh. Okay. Sorry! I forgot. I’m in the Illuminati now. And I dress well, have a net worth and have my own apartment in Manhattan.” says Diego.

“Exactly!” says Chris Hayes.

“But I was…poor” says Diego.

“Yes! You were. But your family was rich! Maybe…you actually made your way to the Illuminati…because you were the descendant of a wealthy grandma.” says Chris.

“No! No! It’s because you were poor. And I looked like you.” says Diego.

Chris looks taken aback. He stands and stares with his mouth closed.

“You look…handsome. But we are not Dalits, but we are not Brahmins. We are…middle class.” says Diego.

“Huh. I think I’m a Dalit.” says Chris. He laughs.

“Why?!” asks Diego, terrified.

“Because…I am only worth $8 million net, and I’m in my 40’s and I live in New York. And I’m extremely dependent on my job for all my security. I’d be middle class if not for my big break, so to speak.” says Chris.

“True. And you’re from a poor hood and your family is poor…mostly.” says Diego.

“Right.” says Chris.

“Okay! Whatever!” says Diego.

More later.
