“Dummies II” by Michael Rockefeller

“ lacy I no longer wonder why you slept with other men I know wonder why you’re still in love with me not because I’m not in love with you, but because I am you have an enormous amount of patience and forgiveness for me and I don’t think I’ve done anything to deserve it as a man at all. It’s not a problem I just didn’t realize how bad off I really am until you started sleeping with other men I don’t think you slept with other men, though I think you barely even stop with me really in your heart I think you’re trying to work with us. You’re extraordinarily beautiful and you know how much I want you and you’re trying to be nice because it’s agony to not talk to you, and that’s not your fault and then you think that must be agony. I don’t want these men to be in agony and if I was alive, and I think I probably would have struggled to fathom you you make no sense to me at all unless if I start to question a great many things, I questioned my sexuality and if I was straight, it’s a tragedy because that’s the last thing in the world I should’ve been questioning him I had no business wondering if I was gay what’s the Dallas thing in the world for me to analyze what I should’ve been analyzing is the United States as a country its validity it’s merit And other men did wonder the Rockefellers wondered. Harold wondered in his own way of Scott Fitzgerald wondered Elliot was terrified by the question, and Louis found the whole thing rather silly to why he started his own country at this point because like you he doesn’t think it’s quite that obvious. He thinks that America was an interesting experiment but then at the end of the day if it doesn’t work, you just pick the pieces up and start all over again Because he’s a historian and he’s brilliant and his grandfather was James J Hill and he thinks like you also Dutch old money. His mothers family started the country before it was a country in New York possibly like your family so to him it was a business venture the entire time much like it is to you so to you too it’s a simple equation. If it doesn’t work, you just go back to the basics of the business keeping new Amsterdam profitable of course you worship Christ, but the country wasn’t started because of Christ in your mind or Louise my country was started for material reasons, and therefore it can be quickly resolved And excuse me dissolved both because it’s very easy thing to fix you just go right back where you came from and start all over again and in his case Minnesota is now a country. Essentially it’s new Amsterdam and we’ll see how the whole thing pans out see my ancestors came over for spiritual reasons And I am in shock because I am realizing that we’re really having a bit of a conversation that belongs in the it is 17 1800s Lacey.

Michael thinks all things silly because he thinks like a German and somewhat like you it’s just a matter of time and effort and efficiency in honoring Christ because the Germans much like you still have somewhat of an imperial mindset, but the whole damn business. But I think like a Puritan with my log cabin, my cranberry sauce, and my rich grandmother and my dad uncle who was killed by an Indian war pigs, and I am a bit scandalized by you, but I’m realizing that I’m thinking like a hick.” says Lem to Lacey.

“ Lem’s it’s OK to be a hick you just have to learn to be smart.” says Michael Rockefeller.

“ Michael neither of us are that stupid. I am hick in my own way possibly. I’m a bit of a hick compared to Lacey genetically, I can admit it or I understand.”

“ I always understood that’s why I was weeping yesterday. What is it that really happened?” says Michael.

“ What really happened Lacey slept with other men to be kind, but also as a sort of gesture of goodwill and hopes that eventually maybe someone would actually sleep with her and possibly really love her it wasn’t that she slept with men to make them love her mind you like the old cliché it’s that she slept with them with the idea that it would send them out to actual sucks I don’t know that at the time Michael, why would a woman do that from your perspective as a Rockefeller what will they be doing? It’s not prostitution what is it?” says Lem.

“Jackie did that all the time!

Jackie slept with lots of men!!

Lem…it’s historical. A lot of men slept with Jackie! LBJ the minute I died.

LBJ was just like all over her. …Our family has plenty of hot chicks like that. Ethel had that problem, Joan had that problem, Kick had that problem. A lot of women in our family have that problem too! I don’t know…but it’s complicated…and I want to know for-for my own personal reasons.” says JFK.

“Ah, that’s not what happen with Jackie. Jackie turned into a slut after you died, but it wasn’t because she was trying to sleep with men for some other reason.” says Lem to JFK.

“ but she still slept with a lot of other men love and it hurt it really did it hurt. And I just wanna know why because I have a very strong suspicion for my own reasons if you cared at all that she slept with those other men because she too, had you know complicated reasons and I don’t know why you’re being such a bitch about it I would write do you have to pretend like Lacey‘s better than Jackie and that she’s a higher class and that she’s better looking I’m with the fuck have you seen my wife she’s hot as hell you know you’re nothing compared to Islam. You’re a worthless, poor peasant overly tall piece of shit and I was doing you a favor by being nice to you the whole fucking time you piece of shit.” says JFK to Lem. He thinks. “But that’s OK. I forgive you and now I like to do a dance for you that I’ve been preparing for the last couple of months because I know you’re gonna like it. I know what you want…and I’m here to deliver it to you.”

Toxic by Britney Spears plays as JFK dances awkwardly with back-up dancers. The dark irony of the song is lost on JFK. He believes that once the song is over Lem will be madly in love with him and they’ll have hot sex for the first time ever. He’s totally convinced about if. He has no doubts at all.

The song ends and Jack is breathless. He stands in waiting with a stupid look on his face.

Dance The Night by Dua Lipa plays.

Jackie Bouvier Kennedy walks up to him and escorts him away by holding his hand.

Suddenly Red Fay erupts in cheers and clapping. He screams and whistles.

Jack looks surly, “Stop! You’re not my audience!” says JFK to Red.

“Jack! We were in love!” says Red.

“That’s love?!?” says JFK.

“Yeah!” says Red.

“But that requires seriousness and…boring shit.” says JFK to Red.

“We had fun!” says Red.

“Yeah. Okay. But…I get tired of the boring stuff.” says JFK.

“Let’s go get dessert with Jackie!” says Red.

“Chocolate?” says JFK smiling.

“Yeah!” says Red.

“Okay. But I have to dance for Lem later. I’m wowing him.” says JFK, sincerely.

Telephone by Lady Gaga plays.

“This is about her in the Illuminati. Being bothered telepathically.” says JFK. “But to me…it’s…about sex with Lem.”

“That’s an interesting interpretation. Let’s talk about it over dessert.” says Red.

“Because it’s about sex.” says JFK.

“But how is it about you?” asks Jackie.

“I’ll explain. It’s deep.” says JFK sincerely.

He leaves with Red and Jackie to Milkshake by Kelis.

Paint The Town Red by Doja Cat plays.

“She was just trying to be accommodating. To Christ.” says Michael to Lem.

“TO CHRIST!?” says Lem.

“Yes!” says Michael.

“Oh.” says Lem.
