Skin & Skull

Skin & Bones by Cage The Elephant plays.

Lem stares at Lacey.

Lem!?

“Darling…why did you follow me? Not that you have any choice. But why?” asks Lem.

Lacey left the last post.

“I felt like it?” says Scotia?

“Shit!!” yells Lem.

“Yeah. Asshole. You’re worthless?” says Lacey to Lem.

“Scotia that’s not like you.” says Lem.

“Yeah. But you’re the evil-hearted, cruel expert.” says Lacey. “And my actual feelings are worthless to you. Right?”

“No. They’re not.” says Lem.

And at that Lacey stabs him in his heart?

“It’s not real.” says Constantine? He pulls the sword out of his heart. “Sorry. Let me think.”

“That’s all you’ve had. For years now.” says Lacey.

“My love has all but been annihilated in your mind. By the Kennedys.” says Lem.

“I refuse to address that.” says Lacey.

“Yeah! Why do you think I fucked her!?!” yells Harold in the distance.

“I’m sorry you slept with other men.” says Lem.

And at that Lacey has his ripped to shreds.

He laughs.

“I’m just hurt.” says Lem to Lacey.

“Girl. I get it. We don’t fuck around.” says a gay black man to Scotia. “Why!?”

“It’s repulsive.” says Lacey, fighting off weeping.

“Lacey!! Why did the African witch doctor find a dog in my body?” asks Sofie, Duchess of Edinburgh. She laughs.

“You know why! But it sounds racist.” says Lem. “I’m- I can’t say sorry enough or correctly.”

“Roof! Roof!” says Joe Kennedy Junior, self mockingly. “I’m not a total asshole. But…I am a Kennedy.”

“Yes. Constantine was living with ‘the dogs’ says India.” says India.

“Well. I’m not going to beg.” says Lem. “Not that actual dogs are evil.” he says, feeding a dog a treat.

The Rush by Bob Moses plays.

“There was nothing normal about her sleeping with other men. She wasn’t seduced. She wasn’t even…interested.” says Lem.

“Yes! It really just made sense Lem.” says Egypt.

Harold Loeb laughs.

Lem closes his eyes and laughs.

“What is the idea?” Lem asks Harold.

“Is it the Kennedys…or the Skakels who are running for office?” asks the CIA. “Because there are no other Kennedys anywhere near elected office right now. Not really.

“What about my tenure as ambassador?” asks Caroline Kennedy.

“A million years ago!? …Umm…you weren’t popular, Caroline.” says the CIA. “Wait! Is there still someone somewhere!?”

“Yeah! In Illinois or something?” says Lacey.

“Not necessarily.” says Lem.

“Shit! …I am an exception.” says Bobby.

“Yeah. And is that Kennedy or Skakel?” asks the CIA.

“Bobby. We were very passionate people.” says George.

“Crap!” says Bobby Junior.

“Yeah. And it is 2024.” says the CIA.

Bobby thinks. “Why…aren’t Kennedys running?”

“Ahh…we are…insane. And intense. And…we were very Catholic. …We’d be morally offended right about now. That’s just in our souls.” says George.

“He still has the Kennedy name though.” says CIA.

“Yes. But it’s not appropriate.” says Lem. “Or is it?”

Silence.

“Look…Harold. Explain.” says Lem.

“Lem. How do you not know this!?!?” screams Harold in violent horror. “She’s yours!?!”

“Please just explain!” says Lem.

Harold stares at him suddenly calmly.

Bad Bad News by Leon Bridges plays.

“It’s Charismatic…Episcopalian…Ancient Egypt.” says Harold.

The song plays.

“I have nothing.” says Vincent Kartheiser on behalf of Pete Campbell.

“Yeah. I stole it, loser!” yells JFK.

“Lem. What the fuck do you expect Lacey to do with that!?!” asks Harold.
