Lacey: To make a long-story short: No.
We have an epic military. But…unless we’re prepared to use nuclear weapons? No.
Not against Russia, China, Brazil, India, South Africa and North Korea. And if we have any defectors? Like Germany? No. We’re toast.
Why?
*she thinks*
Because China…is China. They’re not dealing with massive civil unrest, like we are. Their people are currently flourishing. They’re not dealing with an invasion from Muslims who are anti-China. Historical enemies of Buddha-
*she laughs*
I mean, it’s not like they haven’t clashed. But…The Crusades were a very big deal, in world history. And that wasn’t about Buddhism.
The 1970’s are truly over. That’s dead, now. In the 1990’s we had bits and pieces of it leftover. It was a mere 20 years in the past. Now, it’s 50.
An American: What do you think happened? Go crazy.
Lacey: I’m sorry if I was being harsh about Mr. Loomis. Maybe there’s nothing wrong with him. I just can’t imagine what he’s thinking.
What do I think happened? I think America sold itself out, from the beginning. To evil. …I think that’s the real underlying issue.
More recently? We sold our souls to make a quick buck. In the 1940’s. When we got rid of our steel. China has steel.
More recently? We tried the cruddiest parts of two different plans at the same time, essentially. We did the Jimmy Carter Presidency and then the Ronald Reagan Presidency. Like seconds apart, in the grand scheme of things.
We just burned-up. Over time. Like a shooting star.
Maybe there’s some hope for the future. But, we…have a lot to grieve. A lot to be angry about.

An American: Why?
Lacey: You won’t like my commentary. Are you sure you want to hear it?
An American: Yes.
Lacey: Okay.
This nation has been run by New Money, right from the start. …And while that’s wonderful. Incredibly refreshing. Really! It’s also always been dangerous. Because New Money has no experience running a country. And America has been trying to make equality happen. Real equality. …So, inexperienced people trying to create a miracle. …And yet, it kinda worked for a while, almost. …And it really impressed the whole world. They still are impressed by us. We rocked. Literally. We kicked-ass, as they say. Everyone loved us! We were the wunderkinds of world history.
But…it’s a tall order. …And I think we’re just…showing the flaws. Now. Maybe it wasn’t as astonishing as it first seemed, just decades ago.
An American: So you don’t think Democracy is the problem?
Lacey: No!
…I think it’s irresponsibility and inexperience.
Benjamin Franklin: Solve it.
Lacey: We don’t enslave the Native Americans. We don’t kill them. We genuinely work with them, and fight them, when necessary.
Benjamin Franklin: Okay.
So far so good.
What do we do with the slaves?
Lacey: We don’t have them. We have a much smaller country.
Benjamin Franklin: Okay. We have the GDP of Germany before World War I, in the 1960’s.
Lacey: Good enough.
How many dramatic issues do we even have? And what are they?
Benjamin: We’d be better off.
