“Interview With Joseph Patrick Kennedy” by Mark

Zebra by Beach House plays.

“Hello!” says Mark Schiebel mockingly, like a stupid schoolgirl. He laughs.

“You little…jerk!” says JP Kennedy to Mark.

Mark cries. He falls apart.

“Why are you in the 21st Century?!” says JP Kennedy.

Lose Yourself by Eminem plays.

JP turns down the music.

“If you could have been my son…why did you choose the other door?” asks JP Kennedy.

“Because YOU LIE!!!” yells Mark.

Joe Kennedy Sr. balls.

“You’re brilliant. Just like me.” Joe Kennedy Sr. says.

“YOU LIE!!!” screams Mark.

“Yeah. Yeah. Okay.” says Joe Kennedy Sr.. “But it’s awful.”

“He lies too!” says a woman Mark slept with.

“Not like I did.” says JP Kennedy.

They sit in silence.

“Now what?!?” says Mark in frustration.

JP laughs.

“You wouldn’t look as Jewish.” says JP apologetically.

“Oh yeah? What do I look like?” asks Mark.

“You play cards?” asks Joe Sr..

“What do you mean? Do I play cards? You’d lose.” says Mark.

“You know…I started a war.” says Joe Sr..

Mark glares at him enraged.

“What do you want to be? A President?” asks JP.

“No. I’d want to make money.” says Mark.

“We have a lot of money.” says JP.

“But it isn’t mine!” says Mark crying.

JP laughs. “I-I don’t think you’d-Say-No. So you want to make money?!”

“Yeah!” says Mark. Then he throws all the cards in the air. Pouts.

“What will you do with it?!” asks Joe.

“Run the world.” says Mark, laughing at his own evil sadly, mournfully in Christ.

“Yeah. Okay.” says JP. “Why??”

Mark laughs. “To fix things.”

“I couldn’t do that.” says Joe with worry.

“Stop!” says Joe Kennedy Jr.. “This is scaring people.”

“Not quite!” yells Lacey.

“I agree.” says JP Kennedy.

“I don’t hate you.” says Rose to Lacey.

“Do you hate my son?!” asks JP about Jack as Mark.

“No. But he terrifies me.” says Rose.

“Why?” asks Joe, heartbroken. “He’s one of my favorites.”

“He’s so much like you.” says Rose.

Joe looks flustered. “What’s wrong with that!?”

“Fine!!! You married me!!” she yells as congratulations.

“He’s faithful!” says Joe proudly.

She smiles and nods. “He struggled.”

“She still runs off with Lem.” says Rose, laughing.

“You know…when he’s dead…he’ll know either way.” says Joe.

“You’d still have caused World War II?” asks Rose.

“No. Because I would have known. I’m brilliant but not that kind of brilliant. …But…there still would have been war anyway.” says Joe Kennedy Sr..

“Yeah. Would he have been extremely wealthy?” asks Rose.

Joe cries. “Yeah! Wealthier than me.”

“Oh!” says Rose.

“So how wealthy?” asks Rose.

“$400 billon.” says Joe.

“Yup!” says Erin Murphy.

“We did well in America, huh?” says Cillian.

“Yeah.” says Joe Kennedy.

They think.

“Joe-“ says Cillian.

Joe raises his hand in protest.

“Wow! American glory!” says Erin.

“We had a lot of money. But not that much.” says Joe.

“True!” says Putin.

“So…how…does God fix this?” asks Rose.

“I might have a second son. Mark? Or not.” says Joe. “I guess.”

“Can he still make the money in Heaven?” asks Rose.

“Yeah!” says Joe. He crumbles.

Warning Sign by Coldplay plays.

In tears, “He’s tough!!”

“He is!” says Lacey.

“Except I don’t sleep with my daughter-in-law.” says Ken.

“Don’t remind me!!” says Joe Kennedy Sr. falling apart. He shakes in sadness.

“Hey! There’s Heaven!” says Smobbly.

And at that an angel has to escort Joe out.

“Hey! Good joke!!” he yells at Mark from the hallway.

“What’s the joke?” asks the very gifted Erin Murphy esq..

“He-I slept with his wife!” says Joe. Then he vomits in disgust at himself.

“It’s Lem’s wife!” yells Smobbly.

“No!” weeps Joe. “He-I should have known.”

“So if he’s being serious he loves him. A lot.” says Kick.

“Why do we hate Jack?” Cillian asks Joe Kennedy Jr..

“He’s vile.” says Joe. “By choice.”

“But he’s still lovable if he’s not in Hell!” says Ken Schiebel.

“I agree!” says Ken Burns.

JUST JACK! It’s a show!” jokes an Englishman.

Ready To Let Go by Cage The Elephant plays.

“Which unit?” asks Casi.

“So what are you pronouns?” asks a Gen. Z guy of JFK.

“JFS?” says Jack. “Or Mark?”

“Yeah. So who are you?!” asks Gen. Z.

“A bitch!” says JFK. “A huge bitch, but I try not to be.”

“You wanna be US President?” asks Bill Clinton.

“Yeah. But…like…that’s…weird.” says JFK. “No! I dance. I have…a lot of musical experience. I have a car. And I…went to Andover. And…Brown. I like being…impressive.” says Jack.

“What instruments?” asks Jill.

“Piano. Of course!” says Jack, coldly.

“What else?” asks Jill.

“You’re not my mom!” he says.

Jill laughs. “Okay. What else?”

“Voice!” says JFK.

“What else?!” asks Jill.

“That’s all. Just voice and piano.” says JFK.

“Why Brown?!” asks Ken.

“You wanted me to go there.” says Jack.

“What did you major in?” asks Ken.

“Physics.” says Jack.

Ken laughs. “What are you doing now?”

“I work with outer space! Aliens!” says JFK.

“Huh.” says Ken. “Did you have a crush on Lem?”

“If I did. I might regret it.” says JFK.

“Okay.” says Kacey.

“Army.” says Lacey to Casi.

“Oh wow! So Mark would have fought where?” asks Elliott.

“Germany.” says Patton.

Joe worries.

“So! No war. What then?” asks Ken Schiebel.

“Drama!” says Jack.

“Oh! At Brown?!?” asks Kate Shaw.

“Yeah! What year?” asks JFK.

“2000.” says Kate.

“Oh cool. 2000 to 2004.” says JFK.

“So theater?!” asks Kate.

“Yeah! And dance!” says JFK.

“How much are you worth?” asks Kate.

Jack laughs. “Not that much. I live in Florida. Maybe…$500,000.” he says.

“So…why Florida?” asks Ken.

Jack sings.

“Are you gay or straight?” asks a gay actor.

Jack isn’t done singing yet.

“Okay what?” asks JFK.

“Are you gay?!” asks a gay actor.

“I’m bisexual.” says Jack. “Why?!” he asks in pouty voice.

“Because you seem straight.” says the gay actor.

Jack gets serious. “That’s not funny.”

“Who do you date?!” asks the gay actor.

“Both genders.” says JFK.

“How evil are you?” asks the gay actor.

“I’m evil. But…less evil.” says JFK. “Okay. A lot less evil.”

“Great! So…you’re Godly.” says the actor.

“Yes!” says JFK.

“Huh.” says the actor.

“So…the Army?” asks Casi.

“Yeah! He was on the ground in Germany!” says Joe.

Ken laughs.

“I wouldn’t have spent as much in Europe!” says JFK.

“Why Germany?!?” yells Ken at JFK.

“Aren’t we from Germany?” asks JFK.

Ken nods.

“But you can’t bring Lem there!” says Ken.

“Why not?!” yells Jack, pouting.

“Because I think he was straight. Right?” says Ken. “You can’t bring a straight guy to Paris.”

Jack thinks of his mom and dad.

“You think you’re going to convince some straight guy…to marry you?” says Ken as JFK dances.

JFK stands still. Shrugs.

“What does your mother think?” asks Ken.

He shrugs quickly.

“No!” yells Ken.

Jack dances.

“No!!” yells Ken.

Jack cries.

“You cannot be serious!” says Ken.

“Jack, Jack…why not…bring a female friend?!” says Jill.

“I can’t bring Jennifer. She’s into drugs.” says JFK sadly.

“What about Grace?” asks Jill.

“She’s-“ says JFK.

Jill looks upset.

Jack rolls his eyes.

“Grace…is…nice.” says Jill.

JFK looks at his dad.

“I’m not paying for a vacation for you and some sexually confused guy from Sewickley.” says Ken.

“I’ll pay for it!” whines Jack.

“Okay. But you’ll need help.” says Ken.

“Fine. You don’t understand. But fine.” says Jack.

“What don’t I understand?!?” says Ken.

Silence.

“Lem wasn’t gay!” says Ken.

Jack sits and thinks.

“I’ll pay for Germany. But you need to learn German. And take Bryce.” says Ken.

“Bryce is my friend.” says JFK.

“Fine! No Lem!” yells Ken down the hall.

Jack calls Bryce. No text. This is important.

More later.

“Would you like to keep your son?” asks Lacey of Ken.

“Yes!” he says crying.

“Then you’ll have to talk to God.” says Lacey. “He’ll sort it out.”

“You’re tired. No more writing.” says Lem.

“I’ll just pray.” says Lacey.
