Demons

Lacey is angry.

Why is Lacey Banks angry…(imagine Joan from Mad Men) angry. Because…she’s not being heard or taken seriously. And that could possibly be one of her worst nightmares.

“I mean…I walked in and Don just-He just totally ignored me.” says Joan.

“What?” says Peggy.

“Yeah.” says Lem.

Lem is this Joan’s real husband.

“Oh. I know why. Bobby Skakel showed-up.” says Peggy.

“What did Bobby Skakel do?” asks Lem, laughing.

“He fucked three secretaries.” says Peggy.

“Oh. Roger is drunk?” asks Lacey (Joan).

“No! He’s not here today.” says Peggy.

Joan fumes. She closes her eyes.

June Cleaver walks on set. Walks up to Lacey.

“Hello.” she says.

Lacey looks at her confused.

So does Lem.

So does Peggy.

“Who are you?” asks Peggy, smiling.

“I’m here to see Roger.” says June Cleaver.

“Oh! How nice.” says Lacey, smiling. “He’s not here today.”

And at that the woman (Barbara Billingsly) walks off crying. Lacey races after her.

“Excuse me. Sweetie. …Don’t be cross. Roger’s had a bad time lately. What with his wife being sick, and all.” says Lacey.

“She’s sick?!?” says Barbara.

“Yes. She’s been sick all week.” says Lacey.

“All week?” says Barbara.

“Yes! All week.” says Lacey.

Barbara looks concerned.

“Shall I write down a message?” asks Lacey.

Barbara smiles. Looks sad.

“No. He’s…busy.” says Barbara.

“He’s exhausted. …He had to help her. It’s some new disease?” says Lacey.

“Oh! Oh no! That tropical disease!” says Barbara.

“Yes. She had a high fever of 101.” says Lacey.

“For how many days?” asks Barbara.

“Three days.” says Lacey.

“Oh dear!” says Barbara.

“Shall I leave a message?” says Lacey.

“I think I’ll call him. That’s okay.” says Barbara.”

“Oh! Please do. He might need your help, for all I know.” says Lacey.

“I’ll call him.” says Barbara rolling her eyes.

Lacey watches Barbara walk off in huff.

Lacey turns around and walks back to her friends.

“That was Roger’s latest mistress.” says Lacey.
