Lacey: Well, it’s old money as the norm now. Let’s go for it.
Michael Rockefeller: *Walks into Lacey’s house. Looks around.*
What a pleasant cottage.
Lacey: I only own a cottage.
Micheal Rockefeller: But you have a very good sense of humor. I love that clock from the 1860’s.
Lacey: Just a hundred years after your family finally struggled out of poverty!
Micheal Rockefeller: Yes.
I had my servants take the day off for dancing lessons.
Lacey: Ahh!
Yes.
Halloween is coming.
Micheal Rockefeller: Righto.
The silly billionaires couldn’t get out of their basements today. We chained them all up.
*He laughs with Lacey*
Lacey: They do work hard though. And have so many brilliant new ideas. They’re extremely useful.
Micheal Rockefeller: Yes.
But sometimes they have to be locked-up. Just to remind them that they can’t be the dickens!
Lacey: And I think they’re alright?
Micheal Rockefeller: Yes.
They’re learning, all of them, to have a much better sense of humor.
Lacey: Can your servants be trusted?
Micheal: Well…I’ve programmed them. Almost completely. To behave. Using AI.
Lacey: For righteousness? I presume?
Micheal: *Thinks*
Yes.
No cruelty. Leave the kids alone. Be kind.
They seem quite merry today!
Lacey: Do they like dancing?
Micheal: Well…yes? Some seem quite talented.
Lacey: *smiles, happily*
I do like to leave them…natural. Somewhat. Give them some real freedom.
Micheal: Yes!
But we must not let them starve!
Lacey: Huh.
Makes me nostalgic for old Britain. It was so much less…weird…back then.
Michael: Yes.
But…the billionaires took over. As did they. As did they. The cruel, blind middle class.
And so…now that we’re back in control…we shall have to mend fences. And iron out the oddities. One at a time.
Lacey: Well, I can’t see them complaining about a lovely, temperate sunny day…at dancing lessons.
Michael: Ha! Don’t be a fool. You know they will.
Lacey: People did know how to have fun though. I remember it!!
Micheal: Yes.
Lacey: Blast it!
What do you suppose they’ll be off about?
Micheal: Religion. What else?
Lacey: But the religions are so divided now. What serous issue could even emerge?
Micheal: Well…what God is.
Lacey: Ahh. The very nature of God.
Micheal: Yes!
Lacey: But didn’t we cover that several hundred years ago? Or less?
Micheal: NOT ENOUGH.
Lacey: Yes, and that’s not a doctrine. That’s…all common religions. And spirituality too.
Micheal: I’ve instructed them to be calm, reasonable…kind…and mature. But…I can’t program everything.
