Lacey: So…it’s not allowed to-
The way I see it, is that people like Casi were simply too poor and disadvantaged in their backgrounds to ever be my social equal. …And while that’s sad and potentially even gross…there’s nothing anyone can do about it.
Do you understand that or not?
The perfume community: Yes.
Lacey: Okay.
So it was just absurd for her to compete with me. Because…it was never going to amount to anything. Right?
The perfume community: Well, yes…
Lacey: Right.
So…that’s what I was trying to get at by saying I was old money, on this blog. …Way back in 2017.
It’s not pleasant. But…I was being blunt. Because I was sick of the nonsense.
But that’s not allowed?
The perfume community: *thinks*
Yes.
It’s too mean.
Lacey: How!?
The perfume community: Because even if it’s true…it’s just…-
I mean…no.
Lacey: Why!?
The perfume community: You just can’t say that!
Lacey: Why!?
The perfume community: It’s too…sad…
Lacey: She was very rude and even mean to me. Countless times.
Does that matter?
The perfume community: *thinks*
Okay…
Lacey: ANSWER ME, LIKE AN ADULT!!
Now.
The perfume community: No.
Lacey: *exhales*
So she’s allowed to bitch at me…endlessly. But I’m not allowed to point out THE OBVIOUS!?!
The perfume community: Yes.
Lacey: Then the whole damn community can go to Hell.
Not the people. Of course. Not even the perfume.
But your worthless shit “community” can just go to HELL.
It’s dysfunctional SHIT.
A group of defectors from the community: I’m…not sure I agree.
You’re right. You should be able to defend yourself by stating the obvious when someone’s harassing you and stalking you, because they have psychological problems. And I have a feeling there was a group of people doing that to you and that even the perfume industry itself isn’t being honest about that.
Lacey: Yeah, it’s not safe.
It seems like it should be? Because I’m privileged and white and pretty, to be honest, but it actually means that no one is safe. In the entire community. Because the minute that you start taking away my rights as a human being and calling them evil, when they’re clearly not even at all remotely inappropriate, it means that you’re running some sort of fascist cult. And I’m sorry but that actually is psychologically true. You can’t force people to just kiss your ass without it becoming a cult, in a “community” like this.
The CIA: Yeah. She’s right.
Lacey: I had a right to say what I did, and the fact that people are too stupid to just accept that that’s reality, isn’t my problem.
Rupert Murdoch: She’s right.
Lacey: I don’t mean to condemn people, but you can’t control other people the way they were trying to control me. And I’m not stupid enough to think that if they continue the way that they are, that they won’t really harm somebody who’s more vulnerable than I am.
The CIA: I can sense some regret in the community, but it’s too late.
She hung-out for 10 years, waiting for you guys to make sense and explain yourselves. Not just be passively aggressively attacking her.
And that never happened. You just became fixated on this delusion that you were really doing something holy and utterly fantastic.
*they laugh*
I think you’ve missed the point the entire time. The point was that she was a luxury shopper in an expensive neighborhood buying expensive goods late at night. To use a metaphor. And she was accosted by a group of poor, angry white people who used guns and threatened her life and stole her car and her purse and her goods. Yes a group of poor white people with a gun. And instead of being a victim, she chose to fight back and defend herself, appropriately and legally. But instead of backing her up and supporting her, the stores themselves decided to stab her in the back and side with the people who were stealing her goods. And act like she was some freakish idiot from some dumb trash family. …I mean at the endless insults are astounding to me.
And she is legally in the right. She purchased the goods with money that she obviously owns rightfully. And she was attacked at gunpoint.
You have created an online place, in our heads, that is totally unsafe for someone who’s old money, who has extraordinary wealth, and who’s actually privileged. You pretend to be the opposite! You advertise the absolute opposite. You are luring people in with a sense of safety, when you offer absolutely nothing in terms of safety to somebody who’s actually privileged.
I’m not saying there aren’t some people part of your community who are well-off, but you offer no real compensation, no real safety to somebody who comes from family money, who comes from any sort of generational wealth, to somebody who comes from any sort of real privilege. Even somebody who’s done extraordinarily well in a way that you’re not used to.
There are people who aren’t just working in the perfume industry making $100,000 a year or $200,000 a year, at best. Who have Ivy League educations. Who probably would love to join the perfume community and learn about the latest releases from some niche house. But, I would never suggest they do that, ever. Because, you’re not a safe group of people.
I would even say a nice middle class person would be a little bit…put in harms way…if they opened up too much. There are more than a few people who have been psychologically harmed by the online perfume community, who are just middle-class people. You guys are very pretentiously loving people and then all of a sudden you turn on people when their guard is down, and you start attacking them viciously.
I have not seen many other communities be that cruel. And part of it is that you have a group of people who are from poor countries all over the world, who are desperate to look rich and sophisticated. You have some poor woman from Belarus, pretending to be wealthier than Lacey, editing her photos to look like a model and acting like she’s supremely beautiful in a way that is rather absurd. Lacey actually is extraordinarily beautiful, but you don’t see that in her photos because she’s not sitting for hours with Photoshop or in front of a camera trying to capture herself, for an audience in America. She is the American. She is the white, privileged American, who you’re trying to impress.
But instead of respecting that, and just accepting that she was offended, you turned her into some sort of scapegoat.
I think you’re holding the community together to spite her, but I guarantee you within 10 years there will be no more community. And I bet most of you will probably not even notice because you’ll tell yourselves that it was just a temporary fixation. It was just fun. But that’s really odd behavior, that you’d spend 10 hours taking a photo of yourself and editing it, wasting your entire savings for something that will never last.
That’s incredibly destructive behavior. You’re all incredibly socially destructive people, in my opinion.
Calling yourselves, the pillars of a fucked-up community? It’s pathetic.
So I will no longer be able to protect you. I’m not saying that if you’re an American citizen, I won’t still protect you. I’m just saying, I personally have done research and tried to iron things out behind the scenes, for the safety of people who have joined the community in good faith. But I can’t keep doing that anymore, because it’s egregious to me.
We are on the verge of a horrible war, and a lot of of the people who have been the most offensive have been people from poor European countries. She would believe that the Americans are the ones who have been the rudest, but from my perspective the people who have been the most offensive have actually been people in poor countries around the world. I think that they are the ones who supported a lot of the most idiotic bullshit that was said about her and done against her.
And I’m tired of giving them, you know, my best wishes. I am so tired of being the patsy for a lot of other people‘s bullshit.
If the Americans and other slightly more fortunate white people in the community hadn’t been supported by a lot of dumbasses who are poor and bitter and think they’re being street smart by insulting her? I don’t think a lot of this shit would’ve happened.
She disagrees with me, for the record.
Which should probably surprise you, because you’ve brainwashed yourselves into thinking she’s a terrible person who doesn’t give a fuck about anybody. She really has a right to call herself beautiful, given what people have said about her. She has every right to say something like that! But you’ve turned it into some sort of joke; that she’s standing-up for herself as an adult woman.
Liz: This is bad!
If I’m either reading this blog because I was recently written about, or I’m hearing about it? I just have to say, that I’m kind of scandalized.
I had no idea it was so dangerous.
*she gasps*
Oh my gosh!
A reader: How much is your house worth and where did your husband go to grad school and where did you go?
Liz: I didn’t necessarily go to grad school. My husband went to Johns Hopkins.
For grad school.
I am a teacher.
If I did go somewhere, it was just like Penn State or something?
I don’t really want to talk about it.
To be honest, my husband‘s intelligence and prestige is sort of something that both irritates me and makes me feel really proud.
Our house is worth like $600,000 or $700,000?
A reader: How socially well-connected are you to people who would matter?
Liz: I’m sorry I don’t like this. I’m starting to feel like you’re being kind of strange and I kind of feel like you need to back off.
Lacey: Why did you guys always say that to me whenever I started holding you accountable for being passive aggressive idiots in private conversations. Youwould always come at me like you were these angels of love…and then you would slowly work the conversation so that I was being attacked.
And then I would sort of change my tone to one of suspicion, and all of a sudden you were being viciously attacked by me…and I was a total freak. You’ve never realized how childish and stupid that is!?
The Perfume community: We wanted to believe you were shit. It made us feel happy inside.
I’m being honest.
Liz: Oh my gosh!
*later*
Chris: Did you all just get jealous of her collection?
*later*
Arnold Swazenneger: I sent my son to look at beautiful woman…who are half-dressed…to prove the honor and valor of the perfume community.
A fashion designer: Oh, I saw that! Your son was at a fashion show?
Arnold: You’re making it sound inconsequential, but I know that it offended Lacey.
*he laughs, feeling victorious*
Chris: OH DEAR GOD!!
*he says in horror*
Bobby: But see… she is in love with a gay man…because she is a Puritanical dumb bitch.
I figured it out a long time ago. I’m an expert Illuminated man now! See!?
Chris: *laughs*
Umm…-
The CIA: Yeah…
Bobby: Any time she say something you listen and you hear the opposite. She says something about someone else it’s never insightful. She has no insight. She is not Illuminated like me. OK!? I am a god.
Chris: Bobby…that’s INSANE.
Bobby: My friends in Montana let me use crack with them. They are very good friends. We have a lot of love and we believe that we understand.
It’s called illumination.
Chris: *grasps his pearls, so to speak*
He cannot be that insane!
Bobby:
On camera, I seem like my old self, but behind the scenes is one party after another, since I joined the Trump administration.
I have been diagnosed with early onset amnesia. And some people believe that I’m losing my mind from stress and drugs and chemical imbalances.
But I don’t notice any of that.
*he smiles*
My friends give me lots of drugs OK? And we worship Jesus, and sometimes we sing songs and we fly in planes…and I don’t even notice anything other than my happiness.
A woman in California: He’s doing really well. He just is not like him -like his old self.
You have to just get used to the fact that he is living in a different timeline right now, than most people.
Chris: Okay…
The perfume community: I’m not understanding how Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s son appearing to be heterosexual is supposed to be so shocking to Lacey?
Arnold: Oh no, you are misunderstanding. It’s not the heterosexuality that she’s shocked by. It’s the fact that the women are so scantily clad.
Lacey: None of this is true, but I’m not surprised that you contorted that to make sense. And it is absolutely absurd…
But that’s not surprising.
Arnold: I believe that she is a Puritanical idiot.
The CIA: She’s not.
But that’s Bobby’s latest theory.
He came up with that one over the summer and they’ve added Puritanical because she was talking about the Puritans recently.
But I think that they assumed that she was like sort of a “Christian”. Like, a Crazy Christian.
Chris: OH MY GOD…
The CIA: Yes.
Agreed.
